About
KC Dyslexic Learning Centre was started in 2007 when our Director, Cheryl Hoffmann was unable to find any support in Manitoba to help her daughter who had been diagnosed with dyslexia. Our centre is 100% Indigenous owned and is the only centre in the Province of Manitoba that is trained, certified and specialized using the Orton-Gillingham based Barton Reading and Spelling system.
To-date we have:
- Provided services for 735 students at our Centre.
- Created awareness for parents, educators and communities for the past 18 years.
- Trained and supervised programming in private, First Nations and public schools through PD Days or one on one meetings
- Initiated and programmed for Pilot Projects.
- Became an approved Jordan's Principle service provider
- Worked with our Province to proclaim October as Dyslexia Awareness Month.
We have partnered with Jordan's Principle and many First Nations communities in Manitoba to give students access to literacy, which has closed the gap of their reading and spelling deficits.
